Neil trusted Jesus as Lord and Savior at the age of 15 and surrendered to the call to preach the Gospel a year later. While pastoring Neil attended Northeast Community College, MSU, and the University of MS where he received a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1989.
While continuing to pastor Neil attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and then Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary where he received a Master of Divinity in 1996. After pastoring established Southern Baptist Churches in Prentiss and Union counties for 25 years, Neil answered the Lord's call to plant Journey Church. In June of 2011 Neil began working together with a core group of believer's who shared his vision of planting a church that is passionately committed to following Jesus. A year and a half into the planting process, Neil is having the time of his life.
Neil is married to Shirlene and the Lord has blessed them with two adult daughters (Sara Beth and Callie) and one son (Dawson) who is 10 years old. Neil enjoys playing golf and raising English Bulldogs.
Allen Smith is Small Groups Pastor at Journey Church. Allen was one of the planters that God called to plant Journey Church.
God called Allen to bi-vocational ministry in 1999 as the Children's Minister at Center Baptist Church in Union County. In 2008, Allen's calling from God moved him to Blue Springs Baptist Church in Union County where he served as Children's Pastor for over 3 years and a small group leader for 4 months. It was at this time that God was making a change in his life and grooming him to lead Journey as Small Groups Pastor. He believes that it is God's calling on his life to share The Gospel, make disciples, and plant churches.
Allen is married to Jacque Smith and they have one son Eddie. They own a family business (Wood's Tire & ATV) in New Albany. Allen enjoys hunting, fishing, NASCAR and training German Shepherds.
Brad Mitchell is the Kids Worship Leader at Journey Church. Brad also serves as a Small Group Leader. He has been a part of Journey Church since its beginning.
Brad works full time at Autozone Corporate Headquarters located in Memphis, TN as a Programmer Analyst since Feb 1999.
Brad is married to April Mitchell and has three daughters Allie (5 years old), Karson (8 years old), and Riley (10 years old).
Brad enjoys spending his time with his family, playing golf, and weight training.
Jimmy Hutcheson has been the Youth Pastor at Journey Church since May 2012.
He has been a member of the Army National Gaurd since 1988 and in 2006 he began working full-time with the Army National Gaurd in Ripley, MS. He has served 2 tours in Iraq. Over the years, he has worked with kids and youth teaching Sunday school classes, RA classes and helping chaperone youth trips, but it was during his 1st tour in Iraq that God called him into the ministry. Upon returning home in 2006, he became the youth minister of his home church and ordained into the ministry. He served 6 years as youth minister there before God called him to Journey Church. Jimmy feels it's vital to reach our youth while their still so impressionable. He wants them to feel God's presence and know that there is hope. He loves to see the youth group so excited about Christ and their eagerness to share HIM with others.
Jimmy has been married to his high school sweetheart, Christie, for 21 years. They have two biological children, Jessica, 20 and Zac, 18. They also have a 2 year old daughter they adopted from China a year ago. They are big advocates for adoption and look for every opportunity to encourage and guide families that are considering adoption. He enjoys hunting, college football and spending time with his family.
Daron Pitts serves as Worship Leader for Journey Church. He has been a part of Journey since it's beginning and has been doing music ministry full time or part time for the past 16 years.
He graduated from Greenville College with a degree in Contemporary Christian Music in 1995. Daron leads Journey's worship services with a mixture of traditional hymns, contemporary songs, scripture readings, videos, and testimonies. He also coordinates all media for the church and works full time as the Director of Technology for the Community Development Foundation in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Daron is married to Tabitha Pitts and has three girls and two boys. A native of Northeast Mississippi, Daron has been a part of the music ministry at NorthStar Church, Bissell Baptist Church, and Blue Springs Baptist Church before helping plant Journey Church.
