Journey Church is a diverse group of people who are passionately seeking to follow the Lord Jesus Christ together.

J E S U S

Journey Church acknowledges and submits to Jesus Christ as the Head of the Church.

Colossians 1:18 "He is the head of his body, the church; he is the source of the body's life. He is the first-born Son, who was raised from death, in order that he alone might have the first place in all things. " TEV

Jesus is the foundation of the Church .

1 Corinthians 3:11 "...for no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ." NKJV

This means the church is not built on staff members, budgets and buildings. Rather, the church is built on none other than the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the owner of HIS church because HE purchased the church with His life’s blood.

Acts 20:28 "So guard yourselves and God's people. Feed and shepherd God's flock—his church, purchased with his own blood—over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as elders. " NLT

As believers we belong to Jesus individually.

1 Cor 6:19-20 "Don't you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God; 20 he bought you for a price. So use your bodies for God's glory." TEV

The Scripture teaches that the Church is the Body of Christ. Though HIS Body, the Church, is made up of many members (believers), we form one Body. Just as God gave your physical body many diverse members (hands, feet, knees, nose, etc…) in order that you might have a fully functional physical body – so HE has placed many diverse members (believers) in HIS spiritual body (the church) in order that HIS Church might be fully functional to do HIS will. God Himself determines what spiritual gift(s) HE gives to each believer. HE made us different in order that HE might make us one, unified body functioning under the HEADSHIP (rule) of the Lord Jesus Christ. When the body receives and obeys the signals (messages) from the HEAD of the body (Jesus), we are enabled by the Spirit of God to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we ask or even think – to the glory of God. [ Ephesians 3:20-21 ]

Journey Church seeks to carry out the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ by “… teaching believers to obey the commands of Christ. [ Matt. 28:20 ] Our desire to obey God’s Word and to encourage one another to live in obedience to God’s Word is motivated by our love for the Lord Jesus Christ. [ John 14:15 ]

U N I T Y

Journey Church is committed to pursuing the Unity that Jesus prayed for believers to experience and express. [ John ch-17 ] We are also committed to protecting the Unity which belongs to and is produced by the Spirit of God. [ Ephesians 4:3, Ephesians 5:18-21 ]

Because Jesus reached down to save us from our sin by coming where we are (earth) – as HE came: in a flesh and blood body – to do what HE did: live a perfect life, die a substitutionary death and be raised miraculously from the grave – in order to bring us into a right relationship with God - we are committed to reaching out to those about us in the love of Christ by meeting people where they are physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually with the purpose of beginning and building real life relationships through which we can effectively share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and make disciples.

When a person enters into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior he or she receives spiritual life, which means he or she becomes a NEW creature. [ II Corinthians 5:17, Romans 6:4 ] The Bible describes the believer’s spiritual position as that of being “in Christ.” [ Romans 8:1, Romans 16:7, I Corinthians 1:30, Ephesians 1:3 ] As believers we have a new identity “in Christ.” We will live out our new identity – the Christ life - only as we get in the Word of God and discover who God says we are “in Christ” and submit to HIS Spirit Who empowers us to live the Christ life. [ Romans 12:1-2 ]

The leadership of Journey Church seeks to equip each believer to serve the Lord. [ Eph. 4:12 ] We lead by serving. [ Mark 10:45 ] Practicing the spiritual disciplines (exercises) of Bible study, prayer, witnessing, worshipping, and fellowshipping with other believers is essential to the believer’s growth. [I Timothy 4:8]

You are an important part of the body. In order for Journey Church to provide an accurate physical expression of the spiritual presence of Jesus to the world – each believer must discover, develop, and deploy the spiritual gift(s) God is pleased to have given him or her. [ I Cor. 12:20 ]
